"Controversy Surrounds Allegations of Medical Neglect Towards Arvind Kejriwal in Tihar Jail"

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh has made serious allegations, claiming a conspiracy to harm Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal by denying him access to insulin for his type-2 diabetes. Kejriwal, currently in Tihar Jail following his arrest in the alleged Delhi liquor policy scam case, has been the subject of intense scrutiny regarding his medical treatment.

Singh asserted that denying insulin to a diabetic patient like Kejriwal could be life-threatening and accused authorities of plotting to harm him. He highlighted Kejriwal’s contributions to Delhi, including providing essential services like electricity, water, and free medicines to the public, contrasting it with the current situation where he allegedly lacks access to necessary medical care.

In response, the Tihar Jail Administration has refuted these claims, stating that Kejriwal is not being denied insulin. According to their report, Kejriwal had been on an “insulin reversal program” as per the advice of a doctor from Telangana even before his arrest. The administration emphasized that Kejriwal’s blood sugar levels are under control with oral anti-diabetic medications, and insulin administration is not required based on medical assessments.

The controversy has also touched on Kejriwal’s dietary habits, with the Enforcement Directorate (ED) alleging that he consumes high-sugar foods like mangoes and sweets, potentially to influence medical bail considerations. Kejriwal has countered these claims, stating that his diet adheres to medical advice.

Amidst these developments, Kejriwal’s plea to Tihar jail authorities for insulin administration and video consultations with doctors has been a subject of legal proceedings, with a court order pending on the matter.

The situation underscores the delicate balance between political activism, legal proceedings, and healthcare access, raising questions about transparency and proper medical care for individuals in custody.
